Dr. Kedar served for 25 years in IDF Military Intelligence specializing in Arab political discourse, Arab mass media, Islamic groups and the Syrian domestic arena. A lecturer in Arabic at Bar-Ilan University, he is also an expert on Israeli Arabs. Dr. Kedar’s areas of research are Islam, Islamic Movements and Ideology, Arab States, Societies and Mass Media, and Gender Issues in Islam. His PhD thesis dealt with the political language of the Syrian press. He is a member of various research groups such as “Facing Radical Islam” at the Herzliya Inter-Disciplinary Center, and “Muslim Minorities in Western Countries” at the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies, Hebrew University. Mastering Arabic, Dr. Kedar frequently gives interview to the Arab mass media, especially the Gulf satellite channels, and thus addresses the Arab world in its own language. Thoroughly familiar with Arab media in real time, he is frequently interviewed on the various news programs in Israel.
